The Aurifil DOM is in its 10th year. We've been very fortunate to work with Pat, who organizes a team of 12 talented designers each year, coordinating monthly block patterns and finishing it all off with a final setting. It's truly our favorite mystery quilt along! (New to the Aurifil DOM? Check out our history HERE.) The 2020 team is a group of wildly talented makers based all over the world, specializing in a wide variety of techniques. Learn more about them via the launch post.

April introduces us to Artist Carolina Asmussen (above top right.) When asked about her block inspiration Carolina said:

Every two years, in April, Verona is transformed into a Museum for Textile Art, (the market show) and Verona Tessile (the quilt festival) is conceived by the Ad Maiora Cultural Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Verona and takes place in museums, churches, and other beautiful places of the historic center. Last year, 2019, they had the 5th edition of the event. The next edition is in 2021!

The inspiration for my Aurifil Designer of the Month block “VERONA, the heart of quilting in Italy” is the historic city center skyline. My goal is to “tele-transport” you from where you are and take you with me to the most beautiful sunset of the Verona Color Builder shades direct to the Piazza Bra with the most spectacular view of the Arena of Verona surrounded by all the outstanding historic buildings.
