Featherweight Care and Cleaning
In this class we will cover routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubrication of your machine, and minor troubleshooting of tension issues.
After giving your machine some TLC, we will make a drawstring bag for your foot controller.
***Sewing machines must be operational. This class does not cover repair or troubleshooting of mechanical issues***
Please bring your featherweight, power cord and feet. We will use an all-purpose foot or quarter inch foot for this project
***The Pattern for the drawstring will be provided in class.
Fabric requirements
Two 4" x 10" rectangles of contrast or coordinating fabric for the bag top
Two 13.5" rectangles of fabric for lining
Two 13.5" rectangles of lightweight fusible interfacing (such as Pellon 944
Two 1 yard pieces of 3/8" or 1/2" twill tape or ribbon for drawstrings
Kits with all fabric, ribbon and interfacing are available in the shop.
For the machine maintenance please bring the following:
An old towel to set your machine on for oiling
An apron to protect your clothes
A small bright work light (ideal) or flashlight (2nd choice)
Lint brush
Small screwdriver
Pen or Pencil to take notes
Small oiling syringes will be provided by the instructor

Skill Details: | Students should have fundamental sewing knowledge, and basic familiarity of how a sewing machine works. They should be comfortable with rotary cutting. |

Requirements: | Students must be 16 years or older and must have general familiarity with sewing machine operation. |
