Advanced Bindings

Advance your binding skills by learning how to make a turned facing, two-color binding, and edge circles. Also learn the strategy behind making a binding that matches the piecing lines of your quilt and learn the secrets behind binding curved edges. The class will also explore self-binding. The design choices are endless with all these skills at your disposal! Each student will make samples of the techniques to take home for reference.
Advanced Binding Class-Supply List
1. Review basics2. Two Color Binding
- 1 strip -1” by 14"
- 1 strip- 2 ½” by 14”
- Nothing needed
4. Turned facing
- 3 strips 3” by 12” (for 10” quilt sandwich)
5. Circles
* Three - 3 ½” to 4” circles of one fabric
* Three - 3 ½” to 4” circles of contrasting fabric
6. Matched to Piecing
* Scrap binding 18-20"
7. Curved edges - binding and facing
* Scrap binding at least 1 yard
Each student will need to have Two 14" by 14" quilt sandwiches and One 10" by 10" quilt sandwich.
Additional Supplies
- Sewing machine in good working condition with a new needle installed. Don't forget the power cord and cable.
- Basic sewing supplies - thread, scissors, binding clips, etc.
