Jolly Stitches Stocking Class

Are you ready to deck the halls with your own handmade holiday cheer? Join us for Jolly Stitches, a class designed for the confident beginner sewist ready to tackle a fun and festive project!
In this workshop, you'll learn all the essential techniques for constructing a classic Christmas stocking. We'll focus on basic construction, including:
• Cutting out patterns accurately.
• Lining a stocking for a polished finish.
• Creating a sturdy hanging loop.
After mastering the fundamentals, you'll have time to explore more personalized and difficult design elements to make your stocking truly unique. Options will include adding a cuff, patchwork piecing with pattern placement, and quilting on the body of the stocking.
Pattern and batting for 1 stocking will be provided by instructor. Additional batting forms will be available for purchase.
Prerequisite: You should be comfortable operating a sewing machine, sewing a straight seam, and understanding basic fabric terminology.
Leave the class with a beautiful, handmade Christmas stocking ready to hang and a boost of confidence for your next sewing project!

Suggested Materials to Bring: (for 1 basic stocking)
• ½ yard of main fabric cotton, flannel, or similar medium-weight woven (1 yard if directional)
• ½ yard of lining fabric (1 yard if directional)
• ¼ yard of accent fabric for heel, toe, loop, and cuff
• Sewing Machine and basic sewing kit (thread, pins, scissors, seam ripper)
• OPTIONAL: Scraps of additional fabrics to explore patchwork pieced stockings.
