Unleash Your Inner Sole Artist: Quilted Sneaker Class

Are you ready to step up your style game and turn your feet into walking works of art? Join us for our 2 Day Quilted Sneaker class, where we'll show you how to create a one-of-a-kind, quilted masterpiece!

Get ready to mix, match, and mash up your favorite fabrics, colors, and patterns to create a pair of sneakers that will have everyone doing a double-take.

You pick the fabric and the design - low-top, mid-top or high-top sneaker. We will provide the Sneaker Kit and use of tools for the class. You bring your sewing supplies and your fabric.

Please be aware: we must order shoe bases by January 5 at the latest. The shoe bases are sourced from Germany and may take 8-10 weeks for delivery. Therefore, it is essential to register for the class and provide your shoe size so we can pre-order your shoe base promptly.

Due to the specific requirements and the time needed to obtain the shoe bases, there will be no refunds for this class. Please refrain from signing up unless you are certain you can attend.

Shoe bases are European sizes and run slightly large. See chart below for sizing. Check your size carefully.

We will provide pattern in your size, shoe base kit with insole, grommets, hand sewing needle for waxed thread, waxed thread and use of instructor’s tools.

Supplies you need to provide:
Most supplies are available at The Fabric Chic.

  • 3 Fat Quarters of coordinating fabric - for exterior, lining and binding*1 Fat Quarter of Soft & Stable
    • *If shoe size is larger than size 40, you need 18" x 23" fabric pieces
    • Cotton quilting fabric works best, but any tightly woven fabric will also work. Fabrics that do not breathe are not recommended.
    • Directional and fussy cutting will require extra fabric
    • Do not use large prints
  • 1 ¼ yards SF101 for exterior and lining fat quarters
  • Marking tools - fine point Sharpie (needs to be seen on the fabric)
  • Paper scissors and sharp fabric scissors
  • Rotary cutter
  • Wonder Clips & pins
  • Thread to match binding fabric
  • Seam Ripper
  • Size 90/14 Top Stitch Needle
  • AWL - medium size - VERY IMPORTANT to have for punching small holes in fabric and shoe base
  • Fray Check
  • Sewing machine in good working condition with straight stitch and zig zag stitch (don’t forget power cord and foot pedal)
  • Book light or flexible Ott lite - use when hand sewing quilted tops to shoe base (it is dark in the toe box!)
  • Optional: OESD Perfect Punch Hole Punch and hard plastic cutting board. The instructor will have these available for use, but this is a wonderful tool to have in your sewing supplies.
  • Shoe laces - 54" for high top, 45" for low top
