Quick & Easy and Oh Sew Cute 8-Pointed Pincushion
Join Cindy for a fun and creative workshop, where you’ll learn to craft a beautiful eight-pointed star pincushion! This project is perfect for all skill levels! These pincushions are great gifts, and they are quick and easy to make!
In this class, you’ll learn how to construct a fun and useful design that not only adds charm to your sewing space but also provides a practical solution for keeping your pins organized. And they are just adorable!
What to Expect:
- Step-by-step guidance on cutting and sewing the fabric for the eight-pointed star design
- You'll learn how to blanket stitch the "pennies" to the top of the pincushion
- This is a hand-sewing project (you can machine sew too), but I'm teaching the hand sewing version in class.
- A cozy, supportive atmosphere where you can share ideas and inspiration with fellow crafters
Materials Needed:
- A selection of 8 felted wool fabrics (various patterns and colors recommended). Felted wool is recommended, but other tightly woven fabrics work too. Pieces should be 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" squares.
- Small coordinating wool pieces to make the "pennies". Pennies are about the size of a dollar coin.
- Floss or thick thread in coordinating colors to match the wool
- Sharp needle with an eye big enough for the thread you use
- Small scissors, rotary cutter, small cutting mat and small ruler (at least 6" long)
- At least 2 cups of crushed walnuts. Crushed walnuts are available at The Fabric Chic
- A dollar COIN or a circle object of similar size and a dime! These are for making the wool pennies for the top of the pincushion.
- Bent nosed twizzers and a chop stick (or something similar) for pushing out corners
