Mischievous Fabric Printing

Printing your own fabric opens up an entire new world of design, especially for quilters, sewists. Until now, the process of printing on fabric with dyes seemed difficult to learn and even harder to implement and required lots of “stuff.” But that is not the case anymore.

You dont have to be an ARTIST” to be successful.  This is all about play and experimenting, the process of letting go.  Gel printing is fun and a bit addicting!!  But we will do more than just gel printing.

You will create an astonishing array of designs, simply and safely, using textile paints and a variety of techniques.

Gel printing on fabric uses a gelatin plate to press an image onto fabric. We will begin with paper and then move to fabric.  So you will be able to create your own unique fabric art and more.

 Workshop Fee Includes:
       1/2 yard of PFD fabric,
       a gel plate (6 x 6)
       a  2” brayer
paper to experiment with before using the fabric and use of Cyndi's paints

Cyndi will provide a variety of acrylic paints for you to use from her Paint collection (stash), but please feel free to bring your own favorite colors.  I may not have your favorites!!

Any brand of acrylic or craft and fabric paint works. No need to buy expensive brands.  (No puff paint!)
You may want an apron to protect your clothing.
And if you do not like getting paint on your hands, disposable rubber gloves are a good idea. Cyndi will have gloves available.

By the way, almost anything works on gel plates, inks, watercolors, Posca markers, Shiva oil sticks, tempura sticks, stamp pad ink, stencils and more, etc.  Cyndi will have lots of options for you to try before you invest your own money.

Bring anything you think would work to add a pattern or to make designs on your gel plate.  Things like plastic wrap, tissue paper, bottle caps, cardboard, and bubble wrap, think outside the box.  I will also have lots of things for you to try.

If you have any favorite stencils or stamps, those work as well. I will have lots of stencils and stamps for you to try.

You will also learn how to clean and care for your gel plate.

Bring a pack of water wipes or baby wipes.

We need a minimum of 6 people to have this class.
