A modern take on the traditional rice bag… these are sewn in Patchwork style and embellished with creative hand stitching touches. A perfect project to use up scraps and add your own unique style.
The Japanese “Komebukuro” was a traditional pouch used to carry rice offerings to the temple- or to hold gifts destined for a loved one. They were hand sewn with a mix of whatever fabrics were on hand and closed with a cotton drawstring cord. Merrie will give you some tips for mixing fabrics, finding inspiration, and adding creative stitches. *If you attended any of our Slow Stitching classes, you will love an opportunity to further use your Sashiko or Big Stitch skills!
You will Need:Sewing Machine in good working condition. Don’t forget your cord & foot pedal!
Fabric: Cottons, Linen, or Medium weight linen blend, or lightweight canvas - you will need enough to piece together an 8” by 25” rectangle.
