Project Bag 2.0 - Class Plus Stay and Sew!

Class instruction is 10am-1pm.  You may stay and sew more project bags after the class period, or work on any other project you would like to bring!

Project Bag 2.0 is a ByAnnie pattern which introduces many signature techniques of ByAnnie bag patterns.  Choose from one of four sizes of vinyl front bags with a zippered top and quilted base.  The larger sizes can be made with a pieced accent border, or a solid border.

Learn one of Annie’s techniques for adding a zipper to vinyl and binding the exterior edges

For this class, you can choose to make the pattern as written, or skip the quilting and use Decovil stabilizer instead of Soft and Stable.  ( As shown in one of our class samples that can be seen in the shop). Decovil is a unique stabilizer with a leather-like hand and gives great body without the “orange peel” effect of many other fusible stabilizers.  This project is a great way to try it!

Required supplies:

Fabric and materials based on the size you wish to make (see pattern for requirements)
Note:  The lining fabric is the fabric that shows through the vinyl front of the bag.  The main fabric is the fabric on the back side of the bag.

If you would like to make it with Decovil, omit the soft and stable requirement and substitute Decovil:  1/3 yard for the small size, 5/8 yd for medium, 3/4 yd for large and one yard for jumbo

This project requires topstitching, so thread should match or coordinate with your accent  fabric.
Handbag zippers are recommended and generally does not require a zipper foot.  If you wish to use a narrower zipper, or if your all-purpose foot is wide,  you may need a zipper foot.

Sewing machine in good working order and any notions that you like to have with you when you sew. (Snips, scissors, pins, clips, rotary cutter, ruler etc.  Don't forget your power cord and pedal.

Basting tape - 1/8” or 1/4” wide
Binding clips

We will be focusing on assembly of the bag, so please have all pieces cut out and quilted, (if quilting is desired).
