Binding Basics

In this Class we will cover the basics of how to bind a quilt or a quilted project with a double and single fold binding. Machine finish and hand finish will be demonstrated, as well as glue assist, and several tips and tricks to achieve a polished finish for your project.
Students will learn the faux flange technique that many of our shop samples are finished with.


2-3 Practice  Sandwiches (provided by the instructor)

Sewing machine in good working order
A Walking Foot for your machine
Elmers washable school glue - be sure to get the one with the Blue label
10-15 Clover Wonder Clips (recommended) or sewing pins

Any other supplies you generally use when sewing

*Minimum Age for this class is 16 years
**Minimum of 4 Students required to hold class

Basic Sewing knowledge is required for this class & familiarity with your sewing machine is strongly encouraged.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Completion of Quilting 101 or previous quilting experience required. Students should be familiar with their sewing machine and have fundamental sewing skills

Instructor: Jan Durham
Instructor Bio: Jan learned to sew as a child but didn't become a passionate sewing hobbiest until she retired in 2012. Since then, she has been making quilts, bags, garments and pillows and is an enthusiastic teacher who enjoys sharing her love of creating with needle and thread.
