Quilt Piecing 101
This Class Series is designed to give you all of the basics of piecing a quilt top. We will cover fabric selection, thread, accurate cutting and piecing, assembling your blocks, adding borders and pressing for success!
At the end of the Class you will have a quilt top that can be finished into a throw or wall hanging.
Class will run from 5:30 - 8:30PM on three Wednesday evenings.
*Quilting and binding your project are not included in this class.
In order to keep the enrollment cost of this class as low as possible, we require each student to purchase a fabric kit and book for the class from The Fabric Chic. The kit (with book included) will be available for purchase by the beginning of January. Cost for the kit with book is $74.99.
Basic sewing knowledge is required and there will be some sewing homework between the classes. You must know how to use your sewing machine. This is not a beginner sewing class, but a beginner quilt piecing class.
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING SUPPLIES WITH YOU TO THE FIRST CLASS. Most supplies are available at The Fabric Chic too.
A Sewing Machine in good working order - don't forget your cord & foot pedal! (we have a few machines for rent - please call right away if you need to reserve one). Also, please bring your Sewing Machine manual if you have it.
A quarter inch foot
Quilting or universal sewing machine needles - size 80/12
Pins
Scissors and Snips
Rotary cutter - we recommend a 45mm size
Cutting Mat at least 18" x 24" (larger is okay)
Seam Ripper
High quality thread - 50 weight, long staple cotton thread in a neutral color. We recommend Aurifil in light gray or ecru.
Any other sewing supplies you generally use.
THERE WILL BE A FEW ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES THAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THE SECOND AND THIRD CLASSES. We will discuss various tools during the first class and there will be an opportunity to try out several options and styles before you purchase.

**Minimum class size is four students

| Instructor Bio: | Julia learned to sew as a youngster, making doll clothes by hand. She was introduced to quilting in 2010, and is an enthusiastic quilter. She enjoys sewing in many forms, making quilts, wall hangings, table runners, bag making, and garments. She is looking forward to sharing her years of experience with you. |
