Intro to 60-Degree Patchwork & Design: Hexagons, Diamonds, Triangles, & More

The 60-Degree family of shapes is SO interesting to work with, and the shapes lend themselves to an incredible variety of interesting block and quilt designs!  Many quiltmakers steer clear of the 60-degree shapes because of the "dreaded Y-seam", HOWEVER, there are SO many things that can be done with these shapes WITHOUT sewing a single set-in seam (Y-seam)!

Kelly Ashton, an avid 60-degree enthusiast and author of "Hexagons, Diamonds, Triangles, & More:  Skill-Building Techniques for Sixty-Degree Patchwork", will guide the participant through the ins and outs of working with hexagons, equilateral triangles, half-hexagons, and half-triangles, including how these shapes work together, and how to piece them with "regular" seams,  adding loads of helpful tips along the way.

As a bonus, Kelly will show how to sew set-in seams on the sewing machine (and how easy they are to master), so the participant can add this useful tool to their quiltmaking toolbox.  Kelly's class sample is for instructional purposes.  The participants, with Kelly's guidance, will design and work on piecing their own quilt project from these shapes.  So much hexie fun to be had!

For the class, each participant must purchase Kellyquilter Project Acrylic Template Set: 4 acrylic templates, $27.50.  Available at The Fabric Chic on the day of the class.  Kelly will distribute at the beginning of class.
