Quilting 101

In order to keep the class fee as low as possible, a Book and a Fabric Kit will need to be purchased for this class.

Basic sewing knowledge is required and there will be some sewing homework between the classes.

A Sewing Machine in good working order - don't forget your cord & foot pedal! (we have a few machines for rent - please call right away if you need to reserve one)  Also, please bring your Sewing Machine manual if you have it.

A quarter inch foot
Quilting or universal sewing machine needles - size 80/12
Rotary Cutter
Mat for rotary cutting - 18" x 24"

Acrylic ruler that is 6-9 inches wide, and 24 inches long
Acrylic ruler 6.5" square

Scissors, and Snips
Seam Ripper
High quality thread - 50 weight, long staple cotton thread in a neutral color  (We recommend Aurifil in light gray or ecru)
Fabric Marking tool (chalk pencil or disappearing ink pen)
Any other sewing supplies you generally use.

Class will run from 6-8:30 PM on three Thursday evenings.  Please note, there is two weks between the 2nd and 3rd classes to give ample time to complete the blocks.

Quilting and binding your project will be taught in separate "add on" classes later in the spring.

*Minimum age requirement for this class is 16 years
**Minimum class size is four students

Skill Level: beginner
Skill Details: Basic Sewing knowledge is required and familiarity with your sewing machine is strongly encouraged.
Requirements: Purchase of class instruction book and fabric kit.
