BEGINNER Sewing & Quilting


A Sewing Machine in good working order.  Don't forget your foot pedal & power cord.
Your sewing machine manual if you have it.  (these can often be located online & downloaded and printed)
Extra bobbins

A "Pillowcase Kit" available at The Fabric Chic - or we can help you buy equivalent yardage if you don't see a kit you like!
Thread to coordinate with your project.
Rotary cutter, Ruler, and if you have an 18x24 cutting mat, please bring it.  (We have 4 large mats in the Sewing Lounge, but sometimes need more)

Scissors, snips & any other notions you generally use.


At least 4 Fat Quarters of coordinating prints.  This project can be made from scraps- but please make sure any fabric you bring is high quality 100% cotton.  You will not get the same results from fabrics with polyester in them.

**You can finish this project into a Crib Size quilt to keep or give as a baby gift, OR make a fun throw or lap quilt for your sofa.

Instructor: Lesley Latham
Instructor Bio: Sewing as a necessity and as a hobby has been in Lesley's family for generations. After graduating from college in 2010, it seemed natural for Lesley to pick up sewing as a hobby. She began quilting and quickly became interested in other sewing techniques. Lesley now sews everything from Quilts, to bags to her own clothing. She began teaching in 2013 and loves watching others explore the process of making something of their own!
