Featherweight Care & Carrier Workshop

In this class we will cover routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubrication of your machine, and minor troubleshooting of tension issues.
After giving your machine some TLC, we will make a tote that can also be used as a dust cover- as well as a drawstring bag for your foot controller.

Please bring your featherweight, power cord and feet. We will use an all-purpose foot or quarter inch foot for this project

Fabric for carrier and drawstring bag


            3/4 yard non-directional fabric for tote exterior

            3/4 yard contrast or coordinating fabric for the tote lining and foot controller bag

            1/4 yard (9” x 44”) fabric for controller bag lining

            3/4 yard medium to heavy weight fusible interfacing such as Pellon decor bond


            3/4” to 1” wide webbing or firm twill tape for handles,

            1 package of shoe laces 27” long for drawstring (white and black will be available at the class)


For the machine maintenance please bring the following:


            An old towel to set your machine on for oiling

            An apron to protect your clothes

            a small bright work light (ideal) or flashlight (2nd choice)

            lint brush

            small screwdriver


            Small oiling syringes will be provided for use in the class and available for purchase if desired.


Pen or pencil to take notes - I will have handouts
